WhatsApp Message Templates
A message template is the only way to reach a customer once the 24-hour window closes (read the WhatsApp Inbox guide for details on that window). Meta reviews and sets the status of every template; Konektor only displays it.
Submitting a new template
- Open the Message Templates menu.
- Click Submit a template.
- Enter a Template name using lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores, for example
order_confirmation. - Choose a Language and a Category (Utility, Marketing, or Authentication).
- Write the template Text. Mark any part that changes, such as the customer's name, as a variable.
- Click Submit for review.
Meta takes about 24 hours to review a new template.
Template status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Approved | The template is ready to choose and send from the Inbox. |
| Waiting for Meta | Meta is still reviewing this template. |
| Rejected | Meta rejected this template. The page shows the reason. |
| Turned off | The template is inactive and cannot be chosen to send. |
Why a template was rejected
A rejected template's card shows the reason from Meta, for example:
- The format does not meet the business messaging rules.
- The text breaks the business messaging rules, for example an overly promotional style.
- A similar template already exists on this connection.
Fix the name, category, or text, then click Resubmit on the same card. The form fills in with the previous template's data.
Usage stats
A template's card shows "sent {count}× · read {percent}%" once that template has been sent at least once. Use this to see which templates perform best.
Refreshing from WhatsApp
Click Refresh from WhatsApp above the template list to match the status and list of templates with the latest data from Meta. Use this button when you changed a template directly through the Meta Business tools.
